Staff: Reception/Clerical: Amanda Blethen has resigned and Bonnie Peryer has been hired
Cleaning: Jason Vario has resigned and we are partnering with the Office of the Aging by providing an opportunity for Charleen Leonard to re-enter the workforce. The Office of the Aging is subsidizing her pay for a minimum period of three months with a possible extension of six to nine months.
Building: The work by Sheehan seems to be complete. With the new parking lot in place, it is interesting to note that some people make good use of the added space & others still park the way they always have!
Events: Community Performance Series: CPS at SUNY Potsdam is staging a production of “Annie” the musical. PHS will be providing 2 canine stars…Ethel Merman & Brodrick. CPH has invited the Youth Advocate Program & PHS to set up informational booths in the lobby of Snell Theater during the performances. Rehearsals are underway & the performances will run from July 27th-31st.
Ethel & Brodrick are from a litter of 9 week old pit puppies that have been in foster care since birth. We are happy to use this opportunity to promote the finer qualities of the breed. We will be wrapping all this exposure up with a Pit/Bully Breed Awareness Educational Event at Bows & Bandannas on August 7th.
Town Contracts: I will be seeking approval for yearly rates at the July meeting. Proposed: 3% increase for all current towns with the exception of Stockholm which will not see an increase until 2012. We plan on submitting a proposal to Canton’s Town Council during their August meeting.
Dog Bites & Quarantines: This summer we have dealt with 5 bite incidents resulting in quarantines. The stats in brief are as follows: 2 dogs reclaimed by owners after mandated hold, 2 strays euthanized after mandated hold, one dog still in quarantine- I will be attending it’s court hearing on July 21st in Lisbon.
