Finance Committee Meeting: Present were Jane Amelotte, Bonnie Boyd, Irene Hargrave, and Helen Hollinger.
Meeting called to order at 6:00 pm.
Irene brought most recent National grid bill to bring to the attention of the committee the large increase in the electric bills, two to three times as high, in the recent months due to the presence of the construction. Irene understands the shelter will be reimbursed in some form for the use of electric, will check with Carrie on how that will be done.
Jane reported that she had completed and sent a Grant application to Meacham, requesting grant funds for surgical equipment.
Jane expressed a request to have help with grant writing, Irene offered help. There will be an ongoing search for persons to help with grant writing.
Committee discussed the fundraiser to be held in the fall of 2011. Jane shared with the Committee some of the activities that are planned to be held including a dance, haunted house and more.
Members discussed the need for a new database program, other than petpoints and filemaker. The program would need to be able to track pledges, have a tickler system and more. Irene and Anne have been discussing the possibility of using Quickbooks for a database. Helen mentioned the importance of not having other persons, in addition to herself, Irene and Anne, working in the financial records. More research is needed.
