Greetings all,
Although we didn’t hold a formal meeting this month there were copious e-mails exchanged regarding Anne’s title and raise. Our focus has been, primarily, on the amount of the raise we can afford.
Here is what we’ve accomplished :
– We agree Anne’s title should be Director. The work she does, her interpersonal skills, the programs she’s initiated, and her networking with other agencies has enriched our shelter immeasurably.
– Most members think Anne should be a salaried employee as opposed to being paid an hourly wage,as she is now.
-Concensus indicated that Anne should arrange for her own internet service rather than have it paid for, by the board, as part of her raise.
-Anne does not currently use all of her annual vacation time. Since she is satisfied in that area, no changes are being made at this time.
– Finally there is the issue of the amount of the raise we can support.Currently, Anne makes $12 per hour. Due to a savings on our audit, Irene feels we could afford $13 dollars an hour, or $27,040 per year. A raise of $14 an hour would give Anne $29,120 per year. Concensus of the committee indicates a preference for raising Anne’s salary to $30,000 a year.In a recent e-mail Anne indicated that she would like to see the Director’s position eventually be $14 to $15 per hour. Our final decision on the amount of the raise will have to be decided at the meeting tonight.
My decision not to schedule a formal meeting for this month was based on the time crunch I have been feeling since the Maresca Challenge began. I realize meeting face to face is the ideal, but this time e-mail had to suffice. I appreciate your understanding.
