Employee Performance Documentation : Justine Smith LVT
On 12/1/2010 a stray dog that had been hit by a car was taken to the Potsdam Animal Hospital, examined and treated for a fractured leg. On 12/13 Alysia discovered a large, infected wound had developed. According to Dr. Palermo, if the sling had been inspected on a daily basis and adjusted as needed this wound would not have occurred.
Action Taken : I am deeply concerned about this negligence. In light of Justine’s repeated poor judgment, lack of self-direction and sporadic performance I am no longer confident in her ability to perform the necessary duties of Primary Veterinary Technician. After weighing the options of terminating her employment versus downsizing her position to part-time Vet Tech/Adoption Counselor and consulting with the Personnel Committee who have concluded Justine’s employment with PHS be terminated effective 12/31/2010.
Justine is on Vacation at this time and I will not have an opportunity to address this matter with her until she returns to work on 12/21.
Update 12/16: Heeding sage advice, I am reserving my formal opinion on our course of action until I meet with Justine.
