SLC Animal Protection Coalition
Meeting Minutes 1/18/11
Attendees: Kevin Wells, Amber Lindsey, Judy Boyer, Paul Boyer, Rosemary Philips, Carrie Tuttle
1) Reviewed minutes from 11/30/10 meeting; no comments or changes.
2) Reviewed Open Action Items. R. Philips reported that she is actively working on items 2-4 below and that she hopes to have them complete by the next meeting. K. Wells offered to assist with item number 1.
– Four items are outstanding as follows:
1) List of questions people reporting abuse can be expected to answer
2) Release of liability form for vets
3) Protocols to incorporate disclosure into plea agreements
4) Protocol for bonding
– Press release was also provided for comment. No additional comments were received. A final copy of this is available on the website for Coalition members to use for educational outreach.
3) Letter to Legislators
– A draft report was provided to Coalition for comment. Updates will be incorporated and the final posted on the website.
– C. Tuttle will contact Chairwoman Brothers to discuss Board presentation in Feb. or March.
4) News/Announcements
– C. Tuttle forwarded on information regarding FEMA’s emergency response training courses that pertain to dealing with animals in an emergency. Courses are free and available online.
– Articles regarding additional govts. looking to develop registry for animal abusers and articles regarding correlation between animal cruelty and violent crimes were distributed. This information is also available on the website.
