Shelter Volunteers Save Lives!
Put a wag in a dog’s tail or provoke a purr from a cat! Since May of 2007, over 300 volunteers have participated in our animal enrichment program. Being a volunteer is extremely rewarding, educational, and fun! YOU can have a significant positive impact on the lives of homeless animals. Cuddling a cat, walking a dog, giving a treat or a simple pat on the head will touch your heart and bring you back for more. It’s especially rewarding to see how the animals at PHS respond immediately to the love they receive while they are at the shelter.
As a result of the volunteer program, dogs get walked regularly and cats are more socialized. Most importantly, it is because of volunteers that many pets lives are saved!
Volunteering at the PHS Facility: Once you have acquired the proper training, there are no time requirements, no scheduling, no minimum time commitment! We know that life is very busy- so come when you can!
Minimum Requirements: PHS has a basic orientation class, where procedures and protocols are explained and you receive a tour of the shelter. Once you have taken this one class, you are free to volunteer at any time. Volunteer Orientation class is held once a month. Contact the shelter to learn more about volunteering at PHS or to learn when the next class is scheduled (315) 265-3199 or email@example.com.
Persons of all walks of life and ages can volunteer at the PHS facility. The only rule is that if a person is under the age of 16, a parent or guardian must be with them at the facility at all times.
Other Opportunities: PHS has other volunteer opportunities outside the shelter. Whether it is volunteering at a special event, helping the FOPHS Group with fundraising and shelter promotion, or volunteering at the PHS Best Friends Thrift Store. To learn about other opportunities to help PHS, please read the Volunteer Manual, or contact the shelter (315) 265-3199 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
