Potsdam Humane Society Staff joined enthusiastic shoppers on Friday, April 24th to celebrate the Potsdam Save-A-Lot’s Grand Reopening and to thank owner, Jeffery Proulx for his generous support of PHS. As part of the “Adopt the Shelter” program, Jeff has made a three-year pledge to help the animals with a $3,000 donation.
To celebrate the occasion, Sammy, a shelter resident, and his “staff” were happily greeted by customers coming to check out the beautiful new S-A-L store. Although Sam was in the store for a short photo shoot, he delighted the surprised customers as they entered the “new” store. The canine ambassador found it heartwarming to confirm how much Potsdam residents love their animal companions.
If he could have stayed longer, Sam would have told everyone that he is a nine year old trained Coon Hound with a sweet, gentle personality. And since he is a “senior” (age 7 and older) he would be free to a senior human adopter through the shelter’s “Senior for Senior” program. Details of the program may be found on PHS’s new website, www.potsdamhumanesociety.org.
Being a no kill facility, folks at Potsdam Humane Society are constantly thinking creatively to raise money to operate the shelter. The “Adopt the Shelter” proposal was born out of this constant financial need.
The “Adopt the Shelter” program that J Proulx’s, and other local businesses have supported is tailored to invite local businesses to support PHS’s mission. To facilitate the tax deductable giving, the three levels of sponsorship are pledged over a three –year period: S1500 Bronze paw, S3000 Silver, and 15,000 Gold. Funding from businesses and private individuals makes up two-thirds of their operating expenses. Potsdam Humane Society’s Animal Shelter ranks as one of the best facilities in New York State.
Sammy and everyone at PHS invite people to come visit M-F 1-5 PM and noon till 4 on Saturdays. Potsdam Humane Society, 17 Madrid Avenue, Potsdam (315) 265-3199 Email: firstname.lastname@example.org
